How to choose leather street jackets

Compare leather finish, impact-zone reinforcement, armour compatibility, ventilation, pocket layout, adjustment and everyday riding fit. Review each product page for exact materials, sizing, protective components and certification information before ordering.

Street cut versus race cut

A street jacket is cut to fit a rider sitting upright and standing around, with a straighter back and a looser waist than a race jacket's permanent forward crouch. That makes it comfortable off the bike and wearable as ordinary outerwear. The cost is that it bunches slightly if you ride in a full tuck, which is a fair trade if you never do.

Protection inside plain styling

Looking normal and being protected are not a trade-off. Check for armour pockets at the shoulders and elbows, a pocket for a back protector, and reinforcement at the shoulders and elbows where a slide starts. Thicker leather resists abrasion better; perforated panels give some of that back in exchange for airflow.

Living with leather

A new leather jacket is stiff and then moulds to you, which is why it is worth sizing snugly rather than roomy. Leather is water-resistant, not waterproof: a soaking needs drying slowly, away from direct heat, and regular cleaning and conditioning stops it drying out and cracking. Done properly, this is a jacket you keep for years.
