Why hi-vis matters more at altitude
Mountain roads put you in and out of shadow constantly, and a driver whose eyes have not adjusted coming out of a tunnel or a treeline has a fraction of a second to register you. Lime green sits near the peak of human daylight colour sensitivity, which is why it is used for emergency services and roadside workwear. On a grey switchback in flat light it does considerably more work than reflective piping, which only returns light that is already pointed at it.
Venting
Climbing means low speeds and high effort; descending means high airflow and dropping temperatures. The zip vents let you change the jacket's behaviour without stopping to strip liners, which is the single most useful feature on a jacket used in terrain that gains and loses altitude repeatedly.
Fit and sizing
Eight sizes, XS through 4XL, adjustable at the waist, arms and cuffs. Size for the layered configuration — with the thermal liner fitted you lose noticeable room through the chest and upper arms.
Care
Remove armor and liners. Hand wash cold and air dry. Do not bleach or tumble dry. Wash hi-vis panels more often than you would a dark jacket; fluorescent fabric loses effectiveness as it greys with road film, and a dirty hi-vis jacket is simply a dull yellow one.
Best for
Exposed mountain routes, adventure touring and any riding where being seen in poor light is the priority.
