Riding shoe or full boot?

An ankle-height riding shoe is a deliberate trade. You get something you can walk around in all day, that fits under ordinary trousers and does not announce itself off the bike. What you give up is shin coverage: a full-height race boot protects far more of the lower leg. If most of your riding is urban and short, a shoe like this is the practical choice. If you ride fast on open roads or do track days, choose a full-height boot.
